8.86 Facebook graphics-02Following last year’s hugely successful Portsmouth Short Story Competition, Portsmouth Libraries are once again giving the opportunity for writers to win a £500 cash prize as part of Portsmouth BookFest!

This year the competition theme is Portsmouth: Truth, myths and legends. Writers can interpret this theme any way they wish!

The competition is also supporting writers this year by offering free short story writing taster sessions at Carnegie, North End and Portsmouth Central Libraries.

For those wishing to develop their story there will also be a three part short story writing course at Central Library starting in August. This course is £3 per session (free for Leisure Card holders).

Competition entries can be submitted, with the entry fee of £5, from Friday 27th July up to the closing date of Friday 2nd November 5pm. The winner will be announced at the launch of Portsmouth BookFest in February 2019.

It’s open to anyone aged 16+ who lives, works or studies in Portsmouth or can demonstrate a close personal connection to the city.

The writing workshops can be booked in any Portsmouth Library or by telephone on 023 92688064.
